Program Overview

FOODTANK works with smallholder farmers, women, youth, pastoralists, schools, and local communities in to address climate change and environmental degradation through community-led conservation, climate-smart practices, digital technologies, water management, ecosystem restoration, and renewable energy solutions. The program responds to increasing climate risks, environmental degradation, and pressure on natural resources by equipping communities with practical knowledge, innovative tools, and locally driven solutions. Through these interventions, FOODTANK aims to strengthen climate resilience, improve livelihoods and food security, protect ecosystems and water resources, and promote sustainable communities for present and future generations.

Key Activities

Climate Education and Advocacy</strong> – We use digital platforms, community radio, mobile messaging, and social media to increase climate awareness and promote practical climate action through strategic meetings.</p><ul><li><strong>Water Source Protection and Smart Water Management</strong> – We protect water sources and promote rainwater harvesting, efficient irrigation, water conservation, and smart water-monitoring technologies.</li><li><strong>Ecosystem Restoration and Sustainable Land Management</strong> – we restore degraded ecosystems through tree planting, agroforestry, soil conservation, sustainable land management, and nature-based solutions.</li><li><strong>Clean and Renewable Energy Solutions</strong> – we promote solar energy and energy-efficient technologies for households, schools, farms, and community facilities to reduce carbon emissions.</li><li><strong>Community Climate and Environmental Monitoring</strong> – by strengthening community-based and digital monitoring of environmental risks, climate impacts, natural resources, and conservation progress to support evidence-based action.</li></ul>
