FOOD TANK is a locally led, women founded organization born from lived experience.
Between 2021 and 2023, our founder, a female farmer, worked with smallholder farmers and witnessed how climate change was reducing production, livelihoods, and food security, while increasing poverty and mental health challenges.
Although she had begun to lose hope in agriculture, she chose to lead with farmers to co-create solutions. This vision led to the registration of FOOD TANK in 2024 to advance climate-resilient agriculture, sustainable livelihoods, and locally owned solutions.
FOODTANK Organization is a community driven NGO established in 2024 to advance food security, climate resilience, sustainable livelihoods, and inclusive economic opportunities for smallholder farmers and pastoralist communities, particularly women and youth, through smart agriculture, environmental conservation, technology, innovation, and economic empowerment.

Tanzania's food systems remain highly vulnerable to climate change. Climate-related shocks have contributed to food insecurity and crop and livestock losses, particularly among vulnerable rural communities — underscoring the need to transform a predominantly rain-fed, low-productivity agriculture sector into a climate-resilient and inclusive pathway.
